We listen and learn about your lifestyle, priorities and personal style. At the conclusion of this phase, you will have a proposed furniture plan, project budget, detailed scope of work and initial design concepts.

All parties will have a strong understanding and will be in alignment as we move into phase two.

FAQ
Vannie Pardis Interior Design
  • What does an interior designer usually cost?
This varies greatly by state, the designer's process and level of experience. On average, hiring an interior designer in a metro city like Boston, will require about 15-20% of your total project investment. Some designers charge a flat fee, while others do hourly. Oftentimes, it's a combination of both, based on the project scope.
  • What is Vannie Paradis' design fee structure?
At Vannie Paradis, for full-service, we charge a flat fee to curate your design concept and purchasing/procurement. We require the full fee at signing of the contract to get started on your design. Once the design is completed and signed off, we move to an hourly fee structure for project management and installation.
  • Why do I need an interior designer?
In short, a designer is your best advocate to help create the home you WANT and the home you NEED. We work with you in a partnership to help bring forth, and clarify your vision for style, function and feel of your home/space. Whether you need a little help or a lot, the advice and guidance of an interior designer is invaluable. Having a professional designer on your team who has the knowledge and experience of countless similar projects as well as the information, resources and expertise for finding the exact products and trades people you need to get the best result for your project is priceless. Designers have access to a world of products to choose from, to provide the best services, prices, and experience as possible. Working with an interior designer will help you to move seamlessly and efficiently through the project, as well as help you prevent costly mistakes along the way.
  • When is the right time I hire an Interior Designer for my project?
In short, the earlier, the better. If you are building a new home or remodeling, it's very important to bring in the designer at a very early stage. The designer and architect and engineers need to be working in collaboration to create a model of the vision. Then, the designer and construction trades together, will bring this vision to life. For furnishing, try reaching out to a designer 6-10 months before needing the space furnished. Vannie Paradis can take your project from the initial point of gathering information on the requirements and needs for your space, through design development, purchasing and installation for every detail of your project – all the way to completion. A perfect final result is evidence of a plan well thought out and well executed from the initial ideas to the final details.
  • How long does it take to complete a project?
Generally, a standard furnishings project installation (no major renovation) can occur anywhere between 8-12 weeks, after final sign-offs. However, due to COVID-19, our industry has seen a major delay in product delivery. This shift has caused many of our partners to extend lead times to 18-24 weeks. Because of this, we are letting our clients know that project completion timelines are between 6-10 months, depending on the size. There are some exceptions of course, but we want you to be prepared for this, just in case.
  • Can I use my own contractor?
Of course! We are not a general contractor and cannot hire trades on our clients behalf. We encourage our clients to work with contractors with whom they feel most comfortable! We can also make recommendations and help guide with the hiring process.
  • Can we hire you just for a few hours of design time?
Yes. We provide a two-hour design consultation package. Then we would charge at our hourly rate if more help is needed. See our services page for booking.
  • I am renting my home, could I still hire Vannie Paradis?"
Absolutely! There are tons we can do to help elevate the style of your home and make it more suitable for your needs and your personality. We do not always have to change the layout setting up the home. Visit our Instagram page and blog, we sometimes provide some tips on this.
  • What is the best way to communicate with Vannie Paradis?
We believe in good communication and an efficient process. We ask that all aspects of the project, after the initial consultation, be communicated within our client portal. Within the portal, you have access to attached pictures, links, do product approval, comments etc… This process allows for us to have a trail of everything that is discussed in regards to the project in order to serve you better. We can also do phone calls for clarification then add notes within the portal about the call.
  • Will I be billed for travel time?
We charge $40 hourly rate for any projects that are over 1 hour round trip. Out-of-state/United States projects are billed separately.
  • What is 3D rendering?
A 3D or photorealistic rendering is a real-life depiction of how your project is going to look when completed. It displays all of the components that have been thought of by the designer, such as appliances, furniture, and how they interact with the space, including all the different colours, lighting, and textures. We offer this as an add-on services but highly recommends it for any projects that requires renovation or any kitchen and bath projects. A 3D render image can cost from $800+ per image/per room based on the level of details involved in the project.
  • Why do I need a 3D rendering of my space?
Saves time and money: Realistic renderings created with 3D computer-generated imagery enable interior designers to depict realistic renditions of desired outcomes. You get to see exactly what your space will look like, ensuring that all looks as you wish them to. It allows less room for buyers remorse and a clear idea of expectations. It also allows for less margin of errors for the trades that will be carrying out the project.
  • What is Trade Day?
Trade day is where we invite all the trades that are going to be involved in a project, such as contractors, painters, plumbers and electricians etc., to come onsite to get their input on any design ideas that involve construction, repair, etc. We'll consult with them to get their professional opinion on the cost and scope associated with the work. Based on the scope of the project, this can be anywhere from 1-4 hours. This service is charged at an hourly rate.
